Tilden P. "Chip" Wright III was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on September 10, 1942. He attended Georgia Tech from 1960 to 1962 and then the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, graduating with a B.S.B.A. in 1964. He was commissioned in the United States Air Force in 1964 and received an honorable discharge in 1968 as a Captain, Regular Air Force. Chip attended the University of Arkansas School of Law at Fayetteville in 1968, receiving a J.D. with High Honors in 1971. During law school, he was a member of Delta Theta Phi, serving as Vice-Dean in 1970-1971, and was Comment Editor for the University of Arkansas Law Review in 1970-1971. He was admitted to practice and joined this law firm in 1971. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1977. Chip has been rated preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in Best Lawyers In America. He served on the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Jury Instructions, Civil, from 1986 to 1997 and is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, as well as a member of the American Bar Association, the Arkansas and Washington County Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute and the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel. He retired from the active practice of law, September 30, 2006. He will continue to be a resource for the law firm in his Of Counsel position.
Practice Areas: His practice encompasses general civil litigation, including insurance defense, but with a heavy emphasis on product liability as well as architect and engineer liability. As lead trial counsel in product litigation for a wide range of products, both consumer, specialty and commercial, he has been directly in charge of case preparation dealing with design, testing, analysis, vehicle dynamics, structural integrity, on- and off-road accident reconstruction, warnings, advertising, instructions, exemplar testing and analysis, and working with and opposing expert witnesses retained for such purposes.
